Hi all....
Anyone whos pissed off with Vodafone in Ross, here's the score.
Brief version is engineers will be out to that transmitter on 26th Nov 2011 (Saturday). (Hopefully it will be fixed)
Longer version of this....
Ive had a bunch of conversations pretty much every other day with Vodafone and they have said the fault was originally raised on the 14th, and said that the fault was 'Site Operating on Reduced Power' and have continually given no Estimated Time for it being fixed.
Today, I got fed up with this... most of us have had GSM only connections, which are still dropping calls and being shit, and no data in the form of GPRS or EDGE that we're supposed to get.
Having got fed up, I found out where the transmitter was (at Larruperz centre) and asked inside if anyone had been to the transmitter at all, they said one person went once last week (all people getting access have to get the access from the Larruperz desk). Well... I went round to the transmitter and took this photo off the gate and phoned Arqiva to find out more...

Arqiva told me that Vodafone have 2 ways to fix problems, either their own Vodafone engineers go on site OR engineers contracted by Vodafone, BUT neither of these, NO engineers from Vodafone have been on that site THIS YEAR!! This information came from a chap called Adam who had all the records of site access in front of him including any forthcoming booked appointments for access. (He said O2, T-Mobile, Orange, and themselves have had access, but this is NOTHING to do with Vodafone fixes whatsoever, other operators have their own gear on the same physical mast you see).
Well, I phoned Vodafone, got through to 2nd Line Technical after insisting, and soon the 2nd Line person wanted to put me through to someone else as I knew too much I suppose! Anyway, I ended up talking to someone in 'Network and Enterprise Technical Support' who deal with people who matter (not that we do it seems) ....so, the long and short of it, this guy confirms for me with lots of apologies that Engineers will be going out on 26th (Saturday)... so now its a case of fingers crossed that they'll sort the problem out on the day and it wont drag on. If they dont, I'll be onto them AGAIN on Monday.
ANYONE whos been pissed off with this complain to Vodafone and try get something back for it, its shit!!! That'll be 2 weeks of official problems if it does get fixed but the problem was going on a week before that!!!
HOPE THAT'S BROUGHT IT ALL TO LIGHT FOR A FEW PEOPLE.
Cheers,
Mark
